Since its Inaugural Grant to support EARTH University’s programs in 2019, the Five Together Foundation has continued to be a partner with EARTH in training future leaders for sustainability, prosperity, justice, and food insecurity. In 2020, the Foundation granted its first full scholarship to Wilson Muñoz, followed by a second full scholarship in 2021 to Geisel Quirós. This year, the Foundation committed to multi-year scholarship support for three students entering EARTH University in each of the next three years for a full four years of support. Scholarships pay for a student’s entire tuition, including health insurance, housing, technology, school supplies, and food.
Wilson's vision is to empower the farmers in his community and implement business practices to help them navigate the farming industry. He aspires to research economically viable crop alternatives to the avocado in effort to generate local business. Wilson is currently working on his entrepreneurial project and is creating a meat production company, where his role is to measure their waste and environmental impact, while thinking of ways to minimize it.
Geisel grew up in a farming community close to the EARTH campus. She saw the school's impact in her community and the growing need for sustainable farming practices and technology. Attending EARTH has been a lifelong dream of hers and she wants to empower her community and make an environmental impact by implementing ethical and sustainable practices in the local area. She hopes to be an example to women in her community and empower them to break boundaries within the male-dominated industry.
